Mercedes VISION EQXX Completes 627-miles Electric Journey From Riyadh In Saudi Arabia To Dubai In UAE

Mercedes VISION EQXX completes 1,010 km (627.6 miles) electric journey from Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) to Dubai on a single battery charge.
New record drive on the challenging route is VISION EQXX’s third long-distance road trip over 1,000+ kilometres on a single charge.
It follows Sindelfingen (Germany) to Cassis (France) and Stuttgart (Germany) to Silverstone (UK), both on a single charge.
The VISION EQXX, the pioneering Mercedes-Benz all-electric test vehicle has completed a 1,010 km (627.6 miles) electric journey from Riyadh in Saudi Arabia to Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a single battery charge.
The new record drive on the challenging route in the Middle East is VISION EQXX’s third long-distance road trip over 1,000+ kilometres on a single charge, following Sindelfingen (Germany) to Cassis (France) and Stuttgart (Germany) to Silverstone (UK).
On its third long-distance road trip over 1,000+ kilometres, the VISION EQXX spent a driving time of 14 hours and 42 minutes from the Mercedes-Benz Center in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to Mercedes-Benz Brand Center in Dubai, UAE.
According to Mercedes, the VISION EQXX still had 309 kilometres (192 miles) of range left when it arrived in Dubai, despite encountering heavy traffic on the road as well as lengthy highway sections across the open desert.
Mercedes said that the pioneering test vehicle delivered electric power consumption of 7.4 kWh/100km (8.4 mi/kWh), which equates to an equivalent of around 0.9 l/100 km or 282 MPGe for a petrol-fuelled vehicle.
“On a challenging route profile encompassing busy city streets and open desert, the pioneering test vehicle delivered electric power consumption of 7.4 kWh/100km (8.4 mi/kWh),” says Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management at Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Chief Technology Officer.
“With an exceptional consumption of just 7.4 kWh/100 km, the VISION EQXX continues to provide valuable data for ongoing development of advanced electric efficiency technologies.
“As expected, all systems performed perfectly in the desert conditions, handling challenges such as road surface finish and temperature as well as dust with ease. Further proof that electric drive is ready for global markets.”
