National Assembly Backs FRSC As Crack Down On Plate-related Offences Hits 7,798 Arrests In Two Months

The National Assembly has declared its support for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in its ongoing battle against the circulation of fake number plates after recording a staggering 7,798 arrests of number plates related offenses in just two months.

The support was made public by the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on FRSC, Honourable Abiodun Derin Adesida, when the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed met with the Members of the Committee at the lower chamber of the National Assembly on March 18, 2025.





The Corps Marshal assured the Chairman and Members of the Committee of his commitment to improving the National Vehicle Identification Scheme Portal (NVIS) by ensuring that no vehicle with fake registration is allowed to be driven on Nigerian roads.

Lagos BRT System Has Moved Over 530 Million Passengers Since Its Launch 17 Years Ago

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) is celebrating seventeen (17) years since the first phase of the Lagos Bus Rapid Transit System, also known as Lagos BRT, was officially launched for passenger operations.

Since the start of operation on 17th of March 2008, the bus rapid transit system in Lagos State currently operated by multiple bus operating companies, has moved over 530 million passengers.

“17 years ago, the first successful Bus Rapid transit (BRT) system in Sub-Saharan Africa, was launched in Lagos Nigeria,” LAMATA wrote on its social media platforms.

“To date the BRT on Mile 12 to CMS, later extend to Ikorodu and TBS has moved over 530 million passengers”.

The initiative to build the Lagos BRT system was initiated by the government of the previous governor, Bola Tinubu (now president of Nigeria), to solve the major transportation problems in Lagos.

Daimler Truck Middle East Africa (DT MEA), a subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, recently recognised Weststar Associates Limited, the authorized General distributor of Daimler Trucks in Nigeria at the EliteClass 2024 Season Awards.





At the annual event, where Daimler Truck MEA celebrates the achievements of its business partners, the Weststar team received the Silver Award in the Elite CSP (Customer Service and Parts) Performance category.

While presenting this award to Weststar team, the Daimler Trucks MEA leadership made the following statement :

“Congratulations on your achievement in the EliteClass Central Africa 2024 Season. We are pleased to recognize your individual category achievement”.
