Nigeria Customs Service Says Apapa Area Command Generates A Record N4.8 Billion Daily

Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says Apapa Area Command generates a record N4.8 billion daily.

The agency also revealed that that Oyo/Osun Command takes the lead in collection of excise duty revenue.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has revealed that its Apapa Area Command, headed by Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba, generates N198,802,021 (about N199 million) per hour and N4,771,248,513 (N4.7 billion) daily.

The Agency made this known in a tweet on its official X handle, which reads :

“Do you know that in Nigeria Customs Service, Apapa Area Command alone generates an average of N198,802,021 million per hour and N4,771,248,513 daily?”

In another tweet, the Agency also revealed that that Oyo/Osun Command takes the lead in collection of excise duty revenue.

“Do you know that Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Command has the highest excise duty revenue collection?”

In a statement on Friday, the Oyo/Osun Customs Controller, Ben Oramalugo said that the command generated a total of N5.6 billion revenue for the month of February.





“During the period covering February 1, 2024 February 27, 2024, the Oyo/Osun Area Command collected the sum of N5,664,295,751.15.

“When added to the sum of N6,824,954,338.96 already collected for the period of January 2024, the cumulative sum of N12,489,250,090.11 was collected so far for the fiscal year of 2024.”

Nigeria Customs Services’ 2024 Target

It will be recalled that the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, while defending the 2024 budget of N706.43 billion, pledges to surpass the revenue target of N5.079 trillion in 2024, which he noted is 27.75 percent higher than the revenue target of 2023.
