FRSC had earlier warned that overloading attracts a fine of Ten Thousand Naira only (₦10,000.00).

The Agency noted that exceeding a vehicle’s payload capacity will make the vehicle less stable and more difficult to steer.

Last month, an overloaded Honda Ridgeline pickup truck was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol office in Madera for an unsafe load that caused debris to fly off onto the roadway.

Sharing a photo of a flagged down vehicle along with the details of the stop on its official Instagram page, the department wrote :

“Can you guess the reason for the stop? An unsafe load that caused debris to fly off onto the roadway. Always secure your load and ensure you don’t exceed your vehicle’s load capacity.”

“An improperly secured load isn’t just a hazard for you—it’s a danger to everyone on the road. Flying debris can force other drivers to take evasive action, increasing the risk of serious crashes. Unsafe loads can lead to hefty fines—or worse, tragedy. Let’s work together to keep California’s roads safe.”

Like the California Highway Patrol, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) also took to its official Facebook page to share a photo of an overloaded vehicle that was a flagged down on 11 January, 2025.

“In line with the focus of the ongoing operation zero special patrol, this overloaded vehicle was apprehended and booked by patrol team at Yola on 11 January, 2025,” FRSC wrote on its caption.

FRSC had earlier warned that overloading attracts a fine of Ten Thousand Naira only (₦10,000.00). The Agency noted that exceeding a vehicle’s payload capacity not only damage the suspension but also makes the vehicle less stable and more difficult to steer.
