Red Bull Driver Max Verstappen Secures Third F1 World Title With Six Grand Prix Left This Season
Red Bull and dutch driver Max Verstappen crowned 2023 Formula One world champion in Qatar.
Verstappen became the 11th F1 driver to reach at least three titles and just the fifth to win a hat-trick in a row.
26 year old clinched this year’s 2023 Formula 1 title with six grand prix remaining this season.
Max Verstappen officially became the 2023 Formula 1 world champion in Qatar on Saturday evening after a long season of crushing domination that included record-breaking ten consecutive wins for the Dutchman.
“A fantastic feeling, it’s been an incredible year. I feel super proud, but super proud of the job of the team. We’ll keep on pushing but of course I’m incredibly happy at the moment,” the Red Bull superstar said after the Qatar Grand Prix.
The 26-year-old secured his third successive title in Qatar on Saturday evening despite only finishing second in the sprint behind McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, who took his first victory in Formula 1.
While congratulating Verstappen, F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali, said :
“Huge congratulations to Max Verstappen on his incredible achievements this year and to the Red Bull team who have all worked tirelessly to win the driver’s and constructors titles this season. Max is an amazing talent and what he has done this year has been phenomenal.”
With the title, Verstappen became the 11th F1 driver to reach at least three titles and just the fifth to win a hat-trick in a row. While Ayrton Senna and Niki Lauda are among those to have also won three titles, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Schumacher have each won it a record of seven times.
Max Verstappen clinched this year’s 2023 Formula 1 title and his third successive drivers’ title with six grand prix remaining this season, starting with Sunday’s action in Qatar.
