Rental Company Under Investigation For Renting Out Hyundai Palisade And Ford Expedition Under Recall
Several things should be taken into account when renting a car, including the kind of vehicle required, particularly if a seven-passenger model is needed. Before leaving the rental facility, it’s crucial to do a full inspection of the car and make sure that any damage is appropriately documented. This will help prevent future disputes or fraudulent damage claims.
However, it appears that not everything can be verified in advance, according to a recent National Highway Traffic Safety Administration inquiry. After discovering that Nu Car Rentals rented two cars to clients before the necessary recall repairs were finished, the safety agency is looking into the company. A 2025 Hyundai Palisade and a 2021 Ford Expedition are the two vehicles in question.
Knowing About The Alleged Violation
This inquiry, AQ26001, does not imply that Ford or Hyundai did not meet NHTSA regulations. Instead, the safety agency claims that Nu Car Rentals should not have rented the aforementioned cars prior to the completion of the corresponding recall repairs. Unrepaired cars may provide safety hazards and raise the chance of a collision for both drivers and other road users, depending on the specifics of the recall.
Which recalls were connected to the Ford Expedition and Hyundai Palisade under examination were not mentioned in the study. However, over 500,000 MY2020–MY2025 Palisades were affected by a noteworthy safety campaign because the third-row side-curtain airbags might not activate correctly in a collision.
Additionally, NHTSA stated that it has initiated an audit inquiry to obtain more details about the problem.
What Rental Operators Should Know
If anything, the probe should serve to highlight the necessity for rental companies across the country to adhere to safety recalls, particularly in light of the potential hazards associated with unresolved issues. After all, fleet managers and car owners usually don’t have to pay for safety recall fixes. Nu Car Rentals provides car rental services in several parts of the world, including North America, Europe, and the Middle East, while the investigation is still underway.
The company’s website states that it operates in a number of U.S. locales, including those close to Los Angeles International Airport and Miami International Airport. Its fleet includes larger people movers, performance-focused models like the Ford Mustang, and economical vehicles like the Nissan Sentra.
