The first examples of the all-new 2027 Mercedes-Benz VLE ultra-luxury Minivan has rolled off the production line at the Mercedes-Benz’s state-of-the-art plant in Vitoria, Spain, nearly 3 months after its premier.

Witnessed by Mercedes-Benz CEO, Ola Källenius, the start of series production of the new VLE at the Vitoria plant marks the successful transformation of the site, which also produces existing models, including the V‑Class, Vito and eVito.

“The VLE shows how we drive innovation at Mercedes-Benz: fast, focused and with the highest quality ambition. We developed this vehicle in a very short time, enabled by a digital development approach, strong, cross functional international teams, and the Vitoria plant, which turns the Mercedes promise into reality on the road,” said Mercedes-Benz CEO.

The Vitoria plant in Spain is Mercedes’ first site to build the new VLE in series. Production of the new VLE will begin at the German brand’s Fuzhou plant in China at the end of the year, producing vehicles specifically for the Chinese market.

First unveiled in March, the all-new V-Class Minivan replacement, which Mercedes-Benz calls Grand Limousine, combines limousine-like ride and handling with high-end Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV)-style versatility.

Built on the new dedicated VAN.EA electric platform with 800-volt technology, the new VLE will be available in two variants : The VLE 300 electric and the top-of-the-range performance version, the VLE 400 4MATIC electric.

Boasting a generous 3.34-meter wheelbase that is 14 cm longer than its predecessor, the VLE comes standard with electric sliding side doors with fully retractable windows.

Inside, the VLE offers seating for up to eight people, highlighted by an electric Grand Comfort Seat with an additional pillow, wireless charging, lumbar support, massage function and calf support.

Other highlight inside is the retractable, 31.3‑inch panoramic screen with 8K resolution, split-screen function. Hidden in the headliner above the front seats, the screen is operated via the touchpad in the centre console.

In addition, there is also MBUX Superscreen : A10.25‑inch driver display, a 14‑inch central display, and a 14‑inch screen – the latter, which allows the front passenger to enjoy a personalised entertainment experience such as video streaming and gaming.

VLE uses battery-pack with a usable energy content of 115 kWh, which allows it go 700 kilometers (approx. 435 miles). With its 800-volt system, the VLE can gain up to 355 km (approx. 220 miles) within just 15 minutes using high-power DC fast charging.
