New Russian Brand Launches Senat 900, A Rebadged Version Of Chinese Hongqi H9 Ultra-luxury Sedan - autojosh

New Russian car brand under Aurus launches Senat 900, a rebadged version of Chinese Hongqi H9 Ulultra-luxury sedan. 

Senat 900 differentiate itself with new distinct chrome radiator grille and headlights, retains the taillights and LED light bar from its Chinese donor.

Production is being carried out at the former Toyota plant at St. Petersburg, which produces Camry and the RAV4 until March 2022.





The all-new Senat 900 ultra-luxury sedan, the first model of the new Russian brand, Senat, was shown off last week at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

The new Senat brand is associated with Aurus brand, which launched Russia in 2018 and produces Aurus Senat S600 sedan and Komendant SUV. Aurus is known for producing the official Russian presidential car, the Aurus Senat L700 limousine.

 

While Aurus’ lineups are completely new development of Porsche and Bosch, with an assistance from Moscow-based Central Scientific Research Automobile & Engine Institute (NAMI), the new Senat 900 model is a rebadged version of the Chinese Hongqi H9 sedan.





In addition to the shield logo borrowed from the Aurus brand, the Senat 900 differentiate itself at the front with new distinct chrome radiator grille and headlights, though it retained the taillights and the LED light bar from its Chinese donor.

Powering the Senat 900 is the 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 from the base car, which delivers 326 hp and a torque of 332 lb-ft (450 Nm), allowing the Russian sedan to reach 62 mph (100 km/h) from rest in 6.5 seconds.

Production of the standard 900 sedan, along with the long-wheelbase version called Senat 1000, is being carried out at the former Toyota plant at St. Petersburg, which produces Camry and the RAV4 until March 2022.

The five-seat version is priced from 12 million rubles ($162,800 at current exchange rates) while the four-seat VIP model starts from 12.5 million rubles.
