Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu officially receives Federal approval letter for Lekki-Epe airport. 

Minister for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, presented the document to the Governor on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The approval document authorizes Lagos State Government to commence its proposed Lekki International Airport.





Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday October 11th, 2022, received the Federal Government Approval document, which authorizes Lagos State Government to commence its proposed Lekki International Airport.

Minister for Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika, presented the document to the Governor on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari at the Lagos Economic Summit, Ehingbeti 2022 at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island.

The receipt of the document comes days after the Lagos State Government announced plans to embark on the development of a passenger and cargo airport on the Lekki-Epe axis of the State.

The Special Adviser to the State Governor on Public Private Partnerships (PPP), Mr. Ope George had on Saturday disclosed that the project, which is expected to take off in the year 2023 will be constructed on 3,500 hectares of land on the Lekki-Epe axis of the State.

He noted that the master plan and aeronautical designs are in place, while studies are ongoing about strategies, funding and other issues, after which the project will be taken to the market place.

The Special Adviser also stated that the airport, which is expected to cater to a minimum of five million people yearly, will be constructed in partnership with local and foreign investors.
