Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy visits scene of the Apongbon Bridge fire Incident. 

Sanwo-Olu warned that the 7-day ultimatum issued to occupiers of open stalls under the bridge will not be extended.

The directive follows last week Wednesday’s fire outbreak allegedly caused by inflammables stored under the bridge.

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat on Monday, 28 March, 2022, visited the scene of Apongbon Bridge fire incident which occurred on the early hours of last week Wednesday.

During his visit to inspect the damaged bridge, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu warned that the Lagos State Government’s seven-day ultimatum issued to occupiers of open stalls under the razed section of Eko Bridge at Oke Arin Market in Apongbon will not be extended.

“This is a clear testimony of how public assets should not be turned to. And so, we have given seven days notice and I want to reiterate that it is still on”

Sanwo-Olu said all illegal traders under the damaged bridge have till Wednesday, 30th March, 2022 – the day the ultimatum will lapse – to vacate the site and remove their belongings, after which Environmental Taskforce officers will move in to clear wreckage left under the bridge.

The directive follows last week Wednesday’s fire outbreak under the Apongbon bridge allegedly caused by inflammables stored under the bridge.
