Stolen $200,000 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Bound For Nigeria Found Inside Texas Shipping Container

A stolen Mercedes-AMG G63 (high-performance G-Class) worth more than $200,000 was reportedly recovered inside a container at a salvage facility near a Texas port shortly before it was due to be shipped to Nigeria.
The dramatic recovery was documented by the vehicle’s owner, Lev Sig, who uses the social-media name Carguy_lev. In videos shared online, Sig showed the recovered G-Class and described how it was traced after being stolen.
According to Sig, the high-performance SUV had been leased for a year before it was stolen. He said he was able to monitor its movement across state lines using the Mercedes-Benz’s built-in GPS tracking technology.
The tracking signal reportedly led investigators to an auto salvage facility in Texas. There, the G63 was allegedly found locked inside a shipping container that had been prepared for overseas export.
Sig said Nigeria was listed as the container’s final destination. The discovery reportedly came before the vehicle could leave the United States, allowing authorities to intercept the SUV and return it to its owner.
“Peace ✌️ love ❤️ and respect to all the 🇳🇬 that reached out every nationality has its rollercoaster 🎢 . We are just grateful for getting it back🙏,” he wrote in a video thanking his followers, including Nigerians. He added that he had nothing against the Nigerian community, among whom he has customers.
The recovery highlights the potential value of GPS tracking technology when stolen vehicles are moved across state lines. It also shows how quickly high-value vehicles can enter the international shipping system after being stolen.
While the circumstances surrounding this G-Class remain based largely on the owner’s account, the incident underscores the importance of verifying vehicle ownership, identification numbers and export documentation when buying expensive imported vehicles.
The successful recovery also underscores an ongoing pattern monitored by U.S. law enforcement agencies, in which organised vehicle-theft rings target premium luxury SUVs across North America, including Canada, for illegal overseas export to countries such as Nigeria, Ghana and the UAE.
