The European safety testing organization Euro NCAP is introducing new, more rigorous safety standards for cars from 2026.

Among the key changes is the crash test at 35 km/h, which, according to experts, can be more dangerous than the previous test at 50 km/h because at lower speeds, forces are transmitted more intensely to passengers.

The new rating system will focus on four areas: safe driving, accident avoidance, crash protection and post-crash rescue. To receive the highest rating of five stars, vehicles must meet the minimum criteria in all categories.

A significant innovation is testing in real conditions on routes of at least 3,000 kilometers in three different countries, which will test the driving assistance systems. Special attention will be paid to the behavior of the vehicle after a crash and the ergonomics of control interfaces.

Stricter criteria, although it will make it more difficult to achieve the highest marks, will directly contribute to greater safety for all road users.
