Although the Lexus LS has been discontinued in the UK and North America, Lexus has confirmed the flagship sedan will remain on sale in Australia through 2027, following a series of technical updates debuting in Japan.

The fifth-generation Lexus LS reaches its tenth anniversary next year, but its future remains uncertain following the 2025 reveal of a radical, six-wheeled electric minivan concept. Despite this, Lexus Australia has confirmed the current sedan will receive technical updates arriving late this year.

Lexus is updating the LS sedan for the Japanese market on September 10 with enhanced features and a streamlined lineup. The entry-level trim will be discontinued, leaving only the F Sport, Version L, and Executive models. Exterior updates include optional panoramic roofs and new tailgate badging, though the sedan will retain its current safety tech and 12.3-inch displays instead of adopting the newer systems found in the Lexus ES.

The LS 500’s twin-turbo V6 may be dropped, leaving the 354-hp LS 500h hybrid as the sole option. The platform will also receive structural refinements for better ride quality and steering, while the F Sport may adopt uniform tires to meet strict noise regulations.

The Australian-spec LS will adopt these updates, extending its lifespan. It remains unclear if this is the model’s final run before discontinuation or a future reimagining.
