The Porsche Panamera And Cayenne Continue To Use ICEs Well Into The 2030s.

Porsche is refining its electric plans, meaning the Cayenne and Panamera will still offer combustion engines for a long time.

Last summer, it became clear that Porsche was adjusting its electrification goals. “We still think that EVs are the best path in the long term. But we think the transition will take longer. We are extending our portfolio with fuel models,” Porsche CEO Oliver Blume explained on Wednesday during the annual press conference. It is now becoming more concrete what that means for the brand’s current and future models.

The Porsche Cayenne and Porsche Panamera are now set to continue with fuel power for a very long time. Blume says that they will remain available with a combustion engine well into the 2030s. This will involve electrified drivetrains, and there is a good chance that the fuel versions of the two will disappear from the European market earlier. “We have to look at individual segments and in which markets they are successful,” says the CEO, who emphasizes that a fully electric Porsche Cayenne is also in the pipeline.

There are rumors about a fuel version of the current Porsche Macan, which was introduced only as an electric vehicle (EV). However, this model will stay electric everywhere. A fuel-based SUV of that size might appear later this decade, possibly related to another model within the Volkswagen Group, but there are no plans for this yet.

The Porsche 718 will have a fully electric successor, and there will be no fuel version of it. The Porsche 911 is the most cautious when it comes to electric changes, so it will not have a fully electric version either.
