The Prime Minister Of Japan Recently Bought An SUV!
Choosing an official car for the top government is not a simple process. You have to reconcile the interests of important heads, but also of the state, especially when you have a car production. In Japan, the state vehicle is directly linked to the image, tradition and industrial pride of the country. For more than fifty years, the name ‘Century’ has been synonymous with a first-class state limousine. The Japanese Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi, has chosen or received a new car as her official car. It is now the Toyota Century SUV.
So, the classic four-door sedan that has been the ultimate symbol of the prime minister for decades is being abandoned. The change is not just a different body style but also reflects a general market shift towards luxury SUVs, even at the highest levels of government.
Although Toyota never publishes technical interventions carried out on government cars, it is almost certain that the black Century has an armored structure, bulletproof windows and some special modifications that remain secret for security reasons. Under the hood is a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 3.5-liter V6 engine with electric motors for 412 hp. Drive is transmitted to all four wheels via the E-Four Advanced system, but the main goal is not performance. Toyota has prioritized completely silent operation, ultra-smooth acceleration and ride quality, characteristics that befit the role of an official government vehicle.
The choice of the Century SUV also has symbolic meaning. It shows that even one of the most conservative state protocols in the world is adapting to modern automotive trends.
