This customized Rolls-Royce Phantom V used by Tafa Balewa was delivered to Nigeria ahead of Independence in 1960.

Phantom V, with chassis #5AT96, arrived Nigeria ahead of the inauguration of Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa as Prime Minister of Nigeria.

Inside, inlaid wood bears the arms of the Republic of Nigeria, while the coat of arms of Nigeria are found on the doors.

Boasts a separate chauffer section. Rear compartment offered A.C as well as port cabinet on the left and wine cabinet on the right.





This Rolls-Royce came up for sale in France in 2011 – then, French auctioneer estimated it to sell for between €70,000 – €90,000.

A customized 1960 Rolls-Royce Phantom V State limousine (pictured) used by the first and only Prime Minister of Nigeria, Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, was delivered to Nigeria ahead of the country’s independence in 1960.

The Phantom V, with chassis #5AT96, boasts a separate chauffer section, while the rear compartment offers unheard-of luxury, including A.C as well as port cabinet on the left and wine cabinet on the right.





Opposite the passengers is an inlaid wood bearing the arms of the Republic of Nigeria, while the coat of arms of Nigeria can be found on the doors.

It will be recalled that this piece of automotive memorabilia from Nigeria used by Alhaji Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa came up for sale back in 2011 in far away in France.

Arriving in France since 1994, the 1960 Rolls-Royce Phantom V, offered by Paris-based auction house, ARTCURIAL, had 29,000 miles (46,671 kilometres) on the clock when it came up for sale.

Autojosh can’t how much was later paid for this legendary 64 year old Rolls-Royce, then, the French auctioneer estimated that the Phantom will sell for between €70,000 – €90,000.
