Throwback : 1971 Toyota Hilux

Throwback : 1971 Toyota Hilux pickup truck, historically known as Hi-Lux.
The Toyota Hilux, historically known as Hi-Lux, first launched in the Japanese market in 1968 and a year later on American shores. It is known for its reliability and performance, thanks to its towing and off-road driving capabilities.
While the Hilux pickup truck continued to be sold elsewhere in the world, including Nigeria, Toyota has since introduced the Tacoma to replace the Hilux in North America since 1995.
Taking us back to the 70s when the popular truck was still available in the North American market, Toyota U.S shared photos a 1971 model of the Hilux on its Instagram page with the caption :
“The 70s called. They want their truck back. #TBT 1971 Hilux #LetsGoPlaces”.
The eighth-generation of the Toyota Hilux nameplate debuted in 2016 and it is being sold in 74 countries, including Nigeria, courtesy of exports from Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM), where 76,500 was produced in 2017.
Toyota Hilux comes in a variety of styles and sizes. Due to the powerful pickup truck’s high level of durability and reliability during the Chadian-Libyan conflict, the war was named “Toyota War”.
