Billionaire Tony Elumelu shows how he arrived in style in a Mercedes-Maybach at 2023 VivaTech in Paris, France.

Tony Elumelu, the chairman of the United Bank for Africa Plc (UBA) and Transcorp Power Limited, attended this year’s 2023 Vivatech held between June 14 and 17th in Paris, France.

A short clip posted to his LinkedIn profile that is captioned with “Highlights of my 24 hrs in Paris for Viva Technology” summaries his participation at the well attended tech event.

To us, the highlights of the video was how the 60 year old arrived in style for a program at the event in a Mercedes-Maybach S-Class as well his departure in the waiting flagship luxury sedan.

Tony Elumelu is known for his flamboyant lifestyle. His social media pages is filled pictures of his head-turning rides, including flagships from Mercedes, BMW and Range Rover.

Speaking on the economic potential of Africa at Europe’s biggest startup and tech event in Paris, Elumelu said the continent is a major region where there is evidence of investment.





“If you look at Africa from the point of view of investment, there is nowhere you make the kind of returns on investment that you make in Africa. I speak as someone who invests in Africa.

“In 2013, our group invested in the power sector. We invested in power generation. I don’t know anywhere in the world where you invest in power generation because it is highly capital intensive, and you break even and start making profit from year two to year three. It is only in Africa that this can happen.”
