Volkswagen Offers Employees In Russia Pay-Offs To Quit Voluntarily - autojosh

Volkswagen employees are planning to strike on Monday to protest the company’s plans to close factories in Germany.

Union leaders will inform workers at 11 German locations about the latest state of affairs in negotiations with the company. Volkswagen is struggling with declining demand in Europe and increasing competition from China. Unions say workers are being made to pay for management mistakes.

The carmaker has had a tough few weeks since issuing its second profit warning in three months at the end of September. Negotiations with unions have so far yielded no results. A cooling-off period ends next month, after which more strikes at VW plants in Germany could follow from December.

“Management has still not presented a coherent plan for how it wants to lead Volkswagen into the future,” Daniela Cavallo, head of Volkswagen’s works council, said in an internal newsletter, adding that executives are not prepared to dismiss plant closures and job cuts.
