The driver of a Mercedes-Benz G-Class (G-Wagon) will rue their decision after plunging the sports utility vehicle (SUV) into a roadside drainage in the Lekki area of Lagos State on Tuesday.

Judging by the video shared, the the driver of the seven-figure boxy SUV was likely trying to overtake another vehicle on the flooded road when the incident happened.

Footage shared shows some good Samaritans, who defied heavily flooded Lekki roads to rescue the stuck off-road-ready German SUV from the drainage.

Earlier this month, floodwaters drowned dozens of vehicles parked in one of several car parks used by privately-owned companies in the Marina area of Lagos State.

Trending video shared shows the vehicles sitting helplessly in floodwaters, which reached as high as the top of the tyre height.

The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources had earlier disclosed that Lagos will experience abnormal rainfall in 2024.
