“Your Number Plate Is Your Identity On The Road, Replace Old And Defective Ones,” LASG Tells Motorists
“Your number plate is your identity on the road, replace old and defective ones,” Lagos State Government tells motorists.
Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority cautions motorists against cleaning number plates with using harsh washing liquids.
Tells motorists to avoid using alcohol-based spirits, acetone, petrol, brake oil, kerosene and abrasive materials.
The Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority (LSNPPA) has advised motorists in Lagos State to take proper care of their vehicle registration plates (number plates), noting that “your number plate is your identity on the road.”
The MD/CEO of LSNPPA, Mr. Olayanju Cole, made the statement during a courtesy visit by the General Manager/CEO of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), Afolabi Solebo.
The engagement focused on concerns surrounding faded and damaged motor vehicle number plates and the need for the procurement of new, standard plates to replace old and defective ones issued by the Lagos State Government.
Cole further cautioned motorists against cleaning number plates with chemically concentrated substances, including aromatic solvents, alcohol-based spirits, acetone, petrol, brake oil, kerosene, or abrasive materials, as these can damage number plates.
“LASCOPA reiterates its commitment to safeguarding consumer and motorist rights and ensuring improved service delivery across Lagos State,” LASCOPA said in a statement.
This visit follows an earlier engagement held two weeks ago between LASCOPA and the Permanent Secretary, Motor Vehicle Administration, Mr. Rasheed Muri-Okunola, to address related challenges affecting motorists across the State.
Last month, the Lagos State Government also announced the approved a three-month rebate window for motorists to replace their faded and unreadable vehicle number plates, as part of efforts to enhance road safety and strengthen security across the state.
