Last year, Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation responded to the very competitive and lucrative pickup truck market by unveiling the much-anticipated 2022 Tundra.





Redesigned from the ground up and engineered for adventure, the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra Pickup truck is the brand’s toughest, most capable and most advanced Tundra to date.

Below are ten (10) things to know about the all-new 2022 Toyota Tundra Pickup Truck.

1. Global F-Platform

The new Tundra now shares the same Toyota New Global Architecture platform as the new Land Cruiser 300, Lexus LX 600 and Toyota compact vehicles.

2. Price

The 2022 Tundra is currently available in SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum and 1794 Edition models. They have a starting MSRP prices of $35,950; $40,755; $46,850; $56,990 and $57,690 respectively.

The TRD Pro and Capstone model will join very soon.





3. First Two Examples Sold For $1.25 million

The first two production examples of the 2022 Tundra were auctioned off last week for $1.25 million at the Barrett Jackson. Proceeds from the sale will go to Toyota U.S. Paralympic Fund.

4. Competitors

The all-new 2022 Tundra will rival American-made full-sized pickup trucks like the Ram 1500, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the Ford F-150, the later being the best-selling truck in the US.

The US recognizes the four as work trucks, and each of them is targeted at buyers who use their pickups for job-related tasks.

5. Extensive Testing

Before its unveiling, several prototypes of Toyota Tundra was tested in a variety of extreme conditions, including low altitude, high altitude, heavy snow and more.

6. Incredible Powertrains

The 2022 Toyota Tundra is available in two powertrain options that are based on the same 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V-6.

The base 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 churns out 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque, while the hybrid version produces 437 hp and a whopping 583 lb.-ft. of twist. Both variants are matched to a 10-speed automatic transmission.

7. Luxury Inspired

The Tundra isn’t just about hauling as the premium luxury vehicle boasts an 8.0 inches screen inside in the base model, while the higher-end models get a 14.0-inch touchscreen mounted high on the dash.

Other features include an Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which are standard on all models, and enhancements like integrated Amazon Music and Apple Podcasts will be available.

8. Towing Capability

The all-new premium towing machine can tow only 12,000 pounds or about 17.6 percent higher than what the previous generation could haul.

Toyota explains that its customers don’t haul giant loads like skid steers or Tractors, but their toys like ATVs, motorcycles, and snowmobiles.

In comparison, the 2021 Ram 1500, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 and the 2021 Ford F-150 has a maximum tow rating of 12,750; 13,300 and 14,000 pounds respectively.

9. Innovative Aerodynamics

With available Multi-Terrain Select (MTS) and Crawl Control (CRAWL), the all-new 2022 Tundra was built for any terrain, including the rocks, mud and sand.

10. Military-Grade Protection

With the skid plate made from ballistic nylon, it can’t be ripped off the truck or dented into the oil pan even if Tundra owners wanted to.
