1960s Mercedes-Benz Fintail (W110) spotted in the background as Peter Obi visits Abia Governor, Ikpeazu.

The W110 was Mercedes-Benz’s entry level line of midsize automobiles in the mid-1960s.

W110 is among the first series of Mercedes cars to be extensively crash tested for occupant safety.

The Mercedes-Benz sedan was nicknamed Fintail due to the presence of tailfins design used in the 1950s and 1960s.

Production lasted just three more years, with the W115 220 and 220D introduced in 1968.

Peter Obi, the Former Anambra State Governor and the Presidential Candidate of the Labor Party, on Saturday, paid a courtesy visit to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State at his Umuobiakwa country home, Obingwa LGA.

A statement by Ikpeazu’s Chief Press Secretary, revealed that Obi visited Ikpeazu before proceeding to an event at the Mater Dei Catholic Cathedral Umuahia.

As car guys, we were thrilled by a 1960s Mercedes-Benz W110 Fintail sedan which was spotted in the background of pictures taken during Peter Obi’s courtesy visit.

The W110, one of Mercedes’ range of “Fintail”, was the German brand’s entry level line of midsize automobiles in the mid-1960s. It was nicknamed Fintail due to the presence of tailfins design used in the 1950s and 1960s.

The W110 (and the 6-cylinder W111) were the first series of Mercedes cars to be extensively crash tested for occupant safety.

Initially available with either a 1.9 L M121 gasoline or 2.0 L OM621 diesel inline-four, the W110 line was refreshed in July 1965 to become the 200 and Diesel 200D.

Production of the Mercedes-Benz W110 Fintail lasted just three more years, with the W115 220 and 220D introduced in 1968.
