$3.6m Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Recalled Because Rear Tyres Could Crack After 2,500 Miles
Limited-edition $3.6 million Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport Hypercar recalled because rear tyres could crack after 2,500 miles.
Bugatti says cracks can occur on the Michelin tyres after the Hypercar has traveled 2,500 miles (4,000 km).
Bugatti advises owners to change their Pur Sports tyres when they reach 1,875 miles (3,000 km) or 1.5 years of age.
Chiron Pur Sport, limited to 60 examples, is one of several variants of the Bugatti Chiron.
Other variants of Chiron includes the Chiron Sports, the Divo, the Centodieci and the Bugatti Chiron 300+.
French Hypercar maker, Bugatti has issued a recall for 60 units of its limited-edition Chiron Pur Sport worldwide due to a design flaws in Michelin tyres that could make it crack after 2,500 miles.
Bugatti states that cracks can occur on the Cup 2 R Michelin tyres after the limited-edition Chiron Pur Sport has traveled 2,500 miles (4,000 km).
According to NHTSA data, Bugatti discovered the fault during an inspection of the prototype Pur Sports in September. The car maker later consulted tyre maker, Michelin, to determine which tyre batch and particular Chiron that was affected.

Due to the fault, manufacturing of the Pur Sport model was suspended in September until replacement tyres were available.
For now, Bugatti advises owners to change their Pur Sports tyres when they reach 1,875 miles (3,000 km) or 1.5 years of age. It also warned owners whose tyres have already reached 2,500 miles or 1.5 years not to drive their cars until the tyres are replaced. Bugatti have contact owners affected by the recall and repairs will be free of charge.
At a starting price of $3.6m (₦1.5 billion exc. local tax), the limited-edition Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport remains one of the most expensive and rarest cars on the road.
The 1,479 horsepower Bugatti Chiron Hypercar, with the right tyres, has top speed that is limited to 217mph (349 km/h). Chiron Pur Sport, limited to 60 examples, is one of several variants of Chirons, including the Chiron Sports, the Divo, the Centodieci and the Bugatti Chiron 300+.
