LAMATA releases new fares for Red Line, following the announcement of a 30 percent reduction in fares by LASG.
Rebate is aimed at encouraging wider adoption of the Red Line, to provide relief to commuters amidst current economic realities.
The 27-km Red Line, which commenced passenger operations on 15 Sept 2024, now operates nine trips a day.
The metro service has reduced travel times between Agbado and Oyingbo to just 55 minutes from close to three hours.
The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has released the new fare chart for the Red Line, following the announcement of a 30 percent reduction in fares by the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Sanwo-Olu had on Tuesday February 17th announced that this rebate is aimed at encouraging wider adoption of the Red Line and providing some relief to commuters amidst current economic realities.
In a zoned-based fare system released by LAMATA, passengers taken train trips from Agbado-Oyingbo, Agbado-Yaba, Iju-Oyingbo and Iju-Yaba will now pay N1,000.
Passengers making a trip within Zone 1B (Oyingbo-Agege) and Zone 2B (Agbado-Mushin) will be charged only N750 while One Stop trip will cost N350.
