Toyota luxury brand’s most popular sedan, the Lexus ES, has passed the three million global sales mark. This production milestone was achieved 33 years after the ES 250 and the larger LS 400 sedan jointly launched the Lexus brand in 1989.
The ES mid-size executive car marketed since 1989 is currently the second best-selling Lexus of all time, behind the RX Crossover. Last year, the ES was also Lexus’ second most popular model, selling 167,628 units worldwide to the RX’s 178,234 units.
In Europe, the ES, which ranked fourth in Lexus’ 2022 sales chart with 4,895 units remains Lexus’ best-selling sedan in the region, in a line-up dominated by the RX, NX and UX Crossovers.
The ES is available in Western and Central European markets since 2018 as the ES 300h, featuring an efficient 4th-gen self-charging Lexus Hybrid Drive system.
In other global markets, the ES is also available with different petrol engine options as the ES 200, ES 250, and ES 350.
Since first appearing in 1989, the ES model has been widely praised for its luxurious and spacious cabin, class-leading comfort, exceptional quietness, refined ride, and intuitive driving behaviour.
