Coronavirus: US Evacuates Over 340 Americans From Nigeria
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the US has evacuated over 340 Americans from Nigeria through Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.

A US flight on a rescue mission yesterday evacuated over 340 Americans from Nigeria through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The batch of US citizens were evacuated using Boeing B777-200 aircraft operated by Omni Air International with registration mark, QAE 6204.

The US mission said it prioritised those with underlying health conditions and those on short visits to Nigeria before the closure of airports.

In a message on its FaceBook page, the US Consulate said:
“Today, over 340 Americans left Lagos for the United States thanks to another superb effort by the team at the U.S. Consulate General and our Nigerian partners.
“The passengers departed on a chartered Omni Air International flight bound for Dulles Airport, near Washington, DC. We wish all aboard a smooth flight as they head home to rejoin family and friends. Stay Safe and Healthy!”

Two weeks ago, American citizens, who were scheduled to be evacuated from Nigeria through flight operated by OMNI Air international, were stranded at the Lagos airport due to the inability of the aircraft to fly-over some countries.
Although all Nigerian airports are closed to international flights, the Federal Government permits countries to evacuate their nationals using the airports.
