Prince Philip turns 99, meet Queen Elizabeth’s husband who drove US President Barack Obama and his wife, Mitchelle.
Last year, Phillip emerged uninjured after flipping his SUV in a car accident.
His Range Rover Freelander collided with another vehicle carrying two women, as well as a baby boy.
The incident forced Philip to give up driving after it became clear that he could be charged over it.
Queen Elizabeth’s husband, Prince Philip, born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark on June 10, 1921, on Wednesday celebrated his 99th birthday.
Philip’s parents were Princess Alice of Battenberg, a great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, and Prince Andrew of Greece.
The Duke of Edinburgh married the future queen at Westminster Abbey in 1947 when she was 21 and he was 26.
He served in the Royal Navy throughout World War II, but his military career ended when his wife became Queen Elizabeth II after the death of her father, King George VI, in 1952.
Philip retired from public life in 2017, after 65 years of service. During that period, he conducted more than 22,000 solo engagements and delivered nearly 5,500 speeches.
Just like his wife, Philip also loves driving. He has been pictured behind the wheels of both Land Rover Discovery and Freelander SUVs.

Last year, Prince Philip appeared to walk free from the wreckages of his flipped Land Rover Freelander after the SUV he was driving collided with a Kia carrying two women and a baby.
While the Philip emerged uninjured after the accident, the two women sustained injuries. The baby boy was unhurt.
A day after the crash, a replacement Land Rover Freelander, was delivered to the Prince Philip.
He was even spotted driving without a seatbelt 48 hours after car crash.
Then, it appeared the then-97 year old great-grandfather wasn’t ready to give up on driving despite the crash.
The accident later forced him to give up his drivers-license after it became clear that he could be charged over it.
But the prince still drives alone. In August, 2019, he was seen navigating off-road tracks on the Balmoral estate.
