See how Fire Department rushed to extinguish burning cargo ship carrying 2,000 used cars.
Over 150 firefighters were involved in the rescue mission. Eight of them were injured as a result of an explosion.

A massive automotive cargo ship, named Hoegh Xiamen, has gone up in flames after taking on 2,000 used cars at the Port of Jacksonville in Florida.
According to reports, the fire started on Thursday, June 4, on the seventh deck of the ship, but almost a week later, the fire was still burning.

The temperature outside of the hull was reported to have reached around 350 degrees, while being doused with 25,000 gallons of water.
But inside, the temperatures teached above 1,000 degrees Fahrenheit. This smoldering temperatures was hot enough to start melting the cars onboard.

The US-used vehicles onboard were being exported, and as of this morning, the vessel was reported to be fully extinguished.
This was confirmed through Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department (MyJFRD) official twitter page :
“The ship is now officially out. Our services are no longer needed and our guys will be pulling out. It has been a tremendous team effort. Thanks for everyone’s effort in this daunting task”
