2021 Maserati Ghibli Hybrid Is The First Electric Maseratis
Maserati has announced the 2021 Ghibli hybrid sedan. This is the first electric car model from the stable of the Italian automaker –Maserati.
The car has a 48-volt hybrid system powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and electric supercharger, and it features light-blue accents to denote its hybrid powertrain.
The result is 325 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, sent to the rear wheels through a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission. Maserati claims a zero-to-60-mph sprint in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 158 mph.
The all-electric GranTurismo and GranCabrio will follow the Ghibli hybrid next year.
Maserati is planning to revamp its lineup in the coming years with hybridization and electrification, along with a new MC20 mid-engine sports car.
We will be seeing a hybrid powertrain from the Italian automaker first in the Ghibli sedan, and the electric GranTurismo and GranCabrio sports cars will follow it next year.
Maserati is using a light-blue colour to denote its cars equipped with hybrid technology. On the Ghibli hybrid, it’s found on the side air ducts, the brakes, and the trident logo on the rear pillars. Hybrid models are also distinguished with a slimmer front grille design and updated taillights.
The light blue from the exterior elements also finds its way onto embroidered seams of the Ghibli hybrid’s seats. The Ghibli hybrid is introducing a new 10.0-inch touchscreen. It comes with the new Maserati Connect program. It features over-the-air updates and monitors the car’s safety.
The 2021 Maserati Ghibli hybrid replaces the diesel model, and unfortunately, we won’t see it here in the States. Production will start in the second half of this year. It will be on sale in other markets by the end of the year.
