Two policemen dead, 8 injured as an overspeeding police Hilux van crashed in Ondo State.
The van reportedly somersaulted several times before hitting a pavement while trying to negotiate a bed in Akure.
It comes few days after the dissolution of the F-SARS or SARS; a police unit founded in 1992 in a bid to combat robbery.
Two policemen have been confirmed dead in a lone accident on Tuesday around Airport Road in Akure, Ondo State.
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC, who confirmed the incident, stated that eight other police officers sustained various degree of injuries in the crash.

According to eyewitnesses accounts, the fatal crash was caused by over-speeding and recklessness of the police Hilux van’s driver.
The van reportedly somersaulted several times before hitting a pavement while trying to negotiate a bed on the Obaile airport road in Akure metropolis.
This incident has been confirmed by the State police spokesperson, Tee-Leo Ikoro.
“Yes, there was an accident but I don’t have much details now. We just sent people to the scene,”
It comes few days after the dissolution of the F-SARS or SARS, a police unit founded in 1992 in a bid to combat robbery.
The unit has been accused of extortion, intimidation, harassment and murder of many young Nigerians.
