Traffic Offences: Lagos Auctions Over 134 Impounded Vehicles To Public - autojosh

Traffic Offences: The Lagos State Government auctions over 134 impounded vehicles to the public.

Most of the vehicles were impounded by task force for driving against the flow of traffic.

The impounded vehicles, including buses and SUVs, were auctioned and given to the highest bidders.





The Lagos State Government, through the Taskforce agency and the Ministry of Justice, on Thursday, September 15th 2022, auctioned over 134 vehicles that were impounded for various traffic offences.

The exercise was carried out at the headquarters of Lagos State Taskforce and Special Offences Unit, Bolade Oshodi, Oshodi-Isolo Local Goverment Area.

The impounded vehicles, including cars, commercial buses and Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV), were auctioned and given to the highest bidders who thronged the venue to bid for the vehicles.

According to the Chairman of the agency. Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP, Sola Jejeloye, through the Public Affairs Officer, Mr Raheem Ggbadeyanka, the vehicles were impounded by the state’s task force for flouting traffic rules and regulations, particularly, for driving against the flow of traffic.





“My role as a Police officer is to carry out enforcement exercises one of which is confiscation of vehicles for traffic offenses and handing them over to the mobile court for judgement. I don’t determine the fate our outcome of any vehicle brought before the magistrate in court”.

“Some of the cars being auctioned here were confiscated for obstruction of traffic which only attracts a fine but some people never showed up to claim these cars that’s why they have been forfeited to the State Government after the stipulated period and then auctioned,” he said.

The Magistrate Court Consequently, after trial, forteired the offenders vehicles to the Lagos State Government for auctioning.
