Mazda 2 Gets Another Refresh For 2024 Model Year With Funky Looks

It seems the third-generation Mazda 2 sub-compact – also known as the Demio in its Japanese home market – is set to live on for a few more years. In fact, Mazda has given this B-segment offering of theirs a light refresh.

Alterations made to the small city car are limited but will be welcomed by those wanting to pick up the keys to one. The changes start at the front end with a new fascia that encompasses a revised grille that can be finished in either black or the same color as the rest of the exterior.

Another novelty is a small decoration in yellow or red, depending on the version, which will be located on the right side of the front grill or the rear bumper. In the interim, the entire range received a shark fin antenna. These details will apply to both the hatchback and the sedan model.

In addition to the design adjustments, the 2024 Mazda 2 will have two new body colors, an aspect that is usually especially striking in the brand’s models. The first one is Aero Gray Metallic, and the other one is called Airstream Blue Metallic. There is also a glossy black roof on some variants.

Although the third-gen model is getting a bit long in the tooth, it does offer radar cruise control and a lane-keeping assist system. Niceties include a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, automatic AC, and heated front seats, along with the parking brake lever and shift knob covered in leather. Customers get to pick from three accent colors for the dashboard and other goodies, but much like the MX-5 Miata with which it shares quite a few interior bits, the Mazda 2 is showing its age on the inside.

Where everything remains the same, is in the mechanics. The 1.5-liter Skyactiv-G engine, 110 hp, and 142 Nm of torque are maintained, in this case with a 12V Mild Hybrid system. In Japan, a 1.5-liter diesel is also offered, with 85 hp and 149 Nm of torque. Some versions even have AWD.
