Hyundai Massively Refreshes The Sonata Inside And Out For 2024 Model Year

Hyundai is restyling the Sonata mid-size sedan with a new look that falls in line with other recent redesigns such as the Kona crossover, the Staria van, and the Grandeur sedan. It looks surprisingly different from the outgoing Sonata that first launched for the 2020 model year, and the new face is particularly futuristic.
The South Korean automaker has done much more than simply tweak the front fascia of the Sonata. It has also crafted a new hood for it with more pronounced character lines. In addition, the facelifted Sonata sports black garnish across the bottom of the body and has a host of unique features at the rear. These include a revised trunk lid and LED light bar. N Line models also have new dual mufflers and ride on distinctive 19-inch wheels.
In the cabin, the new panoramic curved display seamlessly combines dual 12.3-inch displays, including one for the gauge cluster and one for infotainment. There are also new touch-type climate controls that Hyundai says emphasize a much more high-tech layout. Other additions in the cabin include a column-type shift-by-wire controller mounted behind the steering wheel, which frees up center console storage space, and new interior color combinations.
Hyundai has not yet announced specifications for the updated Sonata but it is assumed that the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder will come standard and replace the turbocharged 1.6-liter offered in some markets. The 2.5-liter is good for 290 hp and 311 lb-ft (421 Nm) in the outgoing Sonata N Line. In addition, an AWD variant is on the way for the first time.
