Hyundai Ioniq 5 Has Been Named British “Used Car Of The Year”
The excellent Hyundai Ioniq 5 is the first electric car ever to be named “Used Car of the Year” by Auto Express magazine. Hyundai Ioniq 5 left behind Renault Clio and Volvo XC90.
Considering that drivers are increasingly feeling the increase in fuel prices at gas stations, buying a used electric car makes more and more sense. And if you’re thinking about going electric, the spaceship-like Ioniq 5 is the right choice.
However, despite the futuristic design reminiscent of a concept car, the Ioniq 5 offers much more than attractive looks. This was also recognized by the Auto Express jury members, who declared it the best used electric car in 2026.
The interior is extremely spacious, and the autonomy of the larger battery versions is really impressive. It also achieves excellent results when it comes to fast charging technology, as some versions support a charging power of up to 350 kW.
For a brand new car, the relatively high price of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 could turn some buyers off. However, this electric car has been on the market long enough that the oldest examples can be found on the second-hand market today for a very affordable £13,000 (around €15,500).
You won’t have to stretch your budget much to find versions with a bigger battery. Plus, most examples will still be under warranty, thanks to Hyundai’s standard five-year warranty.
Buyers with deeper pockets can consider the ultra-quick Ioniq 5 N, which offers surprisingly believable gearshift simulation and highly entertaining driving characteristics.
Nevertheless, all versions of the Ioniq 5 are characterized by good driving characteristics. The ratio of comfort and stability is almost perfect, regardless of which version you choose.
Speaking of choices, the Ioniq 5 has achieved solid popularity as a new car, which means there are plenty of used examples on the market today. The British say that with any of them, the buyer will hardly go wrong.
