China’s Most Expensive sedan: Retro-style Hongqi L5 ultra-luxury limousine dubbed as “Rolls-Royce Of China” starts at $680,000.

While its predecessor was designed for Chinese high-rank officials’ needs, the latest-generation L5 will be available “for everyone”. 

L5 is aimed at billionaire businessmen and super stars, just like cars from Rolls-Royce, Bentley and the Century by Toyota.

At $680,000, the latest-generation Hongqi L5 is more expensive than Rolls-Royce Phantom 8 luxury sedan.





Latest-gen gets new lower grille while the rear gets redesigned bumper with monster exhausts and upright LED lighting.

Retro-style Rolls-Royce and Bentley rivaling Hongqi L5 ultra-luxurious four-door sedan has received mass production permission from the Chinese Government, according to Car News China.

The latest-generation Hongqi L5 flagship sedan made its debut back in April at the 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (or Auto Shanghai 2023), replacing its predecessor that arrived in 2013.





While its 2014 predecessor was designed for Chinese high-rank officials’ needs, the latest-generation L5 will be available “for everyone” with a sticker price of 5,000,000 yuan ($680,000) – making it more expensive than Rolls-Royce Phantom 8.

Dubbed as the “Rolls-Royce of China”, the latest flagship Hongqi L5 retains the retro headlight and monster grille. It gets a redesigned front end with a new lower grille while the rear gets L5 has a “红旗” (Hongqi) inscription as well as a redesigned bumper with monster exhausts and upright LED lighting.

The Hongqi L5 is powered by a 4-liter CA8GV40T-03 V8 for 387 horsepower, which is enough to take the car that weighs 6,945 lbs (3,150 kg) to a top speed of 137 mph (220 kmh).

This unique Chinese-built Hongqi L5 is aimed at billionaire businessmen and super stars, just like cars from Rolls-Royce, Bentley and the Century by Toyota Motors Corporation.
