Facelifted Volkswagen Golf R, Set For Summer Launch
“The future of Volkswagen R is electric,” Hakim Halimi, Head of Product Marketing at Volkswagen R, recently assured. So there are fully electric R models in the pipeline, but that does not mean that they are already available. In Zell am See, Volkswagen previewed its next new sporty R model, and it simply has a combustion engine. This concerns the R version of the recently facelifted Volkswagen Golf.
The updated Volkswagen Golf R was shown in a sleek sticker sheet during the ice race in Zell am See, Austria. The appearance of the updated Golf R, which is only briefly hidden from view, no longer holds any secrets. Sporty bumper work, large wheels with powerful brakes behind them with blue brake calipers, an R logo in the nose, and, undoubtedly, four exhaust pipes at the bottom of the rear—the external recipe is a well-known one.
Before the facelift, the Volkswagen Golf R had a 320 hp 2.0 TSI, a machine that unleashes its power on all four wheels, according to R tradition. The Volkswagen Golf R was later presented in special versions that even produced 333 hp. It is not inconceivable that the updated Volkswagen Golf R will have 333 hp as standard, although we are not completely sure yet. This should become clear by the middle of this year when the new Volkswagen Golf R will be unveiled in its entirety.
