NDLEA Intercept Drugs Concealed In Engine Compartment, Tyre Tubes : VIDEO - autojosh

NDLEA operatives intercept drugs hidden within the engine compartments and tyre tubes of commercial vehicles.

The Drug Law Enforcement Agency expressed concern over the increasing desperation of drug traffickers.

Says goal to disrupt distribution channels of drug cartels is the reason why its officers conduct stop and search on the highways.

The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted drugs hidden within the engine compartments and tyre tubes of commercial vehicles, amidst the Agency’s fight against drug abuse.

During a stop and search operation on Thursday 7th March 2024 along Gbongan – Ibadan road, Osun state, NDLEA officers discovered about 5.2kg of cannabis sativa and opioids in the engine compartment of an interstate commercial bus marked VDY 187 XA.

Sharing the news of the breakthrough via his X account, Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA, expressed concern over the increasing desperation of drug traffickers.

He further revealed that the videos shared provide some insight into why the Agency’s operatives conduct stop and search on the highways.

He wrote :

“Narco-trend update : The desperation by drug traffickers is appalling. So, should passengers start searching the engine compartment and tyre tubes of commercial vehicles before they board now? These videos provide some insight into why #ndlea_nigeria officers are on the highway.”

Following a similar interception last November, Femi Babafemi said the Agency’s goal to disrupt all distribution channels of drug cartels is the reason why its officers conduct stop and search on the highways.

Femi Babafemi said this after NDLEA officials on patrol confiscated illegal drugs tramadol and cannabis hidden inside dashboard, tyre rims, tubes, engine and body compartments of both private and commercial vehicles.

“Narco-trend update: Dashboard, tyre rims, tubes, engine and body compartments of vehicles, both private and commercial now serve as places of concealment of illicit drugs,” Babafemi said.

“Hence the reason @ndlea_nigeria officers and men conduct stop and search on our highways. The seizure of opioids concealed in the body compartments of the cars in the attached videos explains why we’ve to disrupt all distribution channels of the cartels”.
