Ford Has Devised A Means To Show Advertisements In Cars
Ford has developed a system that should make it possible to show or play advertisements in cars. For now, it is still purely a patent, putting it into practice is a whole other story.
Just when you’re driving around with some music on, suddenly an advertisement comes blaring out of your speakers. You may be familiar with this when you stream free music in your car, but it could also become a standard reality in a Ford. Ford has filed a patent in the United States for a system that should make advertising in the brand’s cars possible. This was discovered at the US Patent and Trademark Office.
The system should be able to show relevant advertisements on the infotainment screen or play them through the speakers based on your location. It should also be able to select customized advertisements based on your set navigation destination or even based on conversations you have in the car. To disturb you as little as possible in conversations you have in the car, the system should also listen in when there is silence and then call up the advertisement.
According to Ford’s spokesman, Submitting patent applications is a normal part of any strong business as the process protects new ideas and helps us build a robust portfolio of intellectual property. The ideas described within a patent application should not be viewed as an indication of our business or product plans. No matter what the patent application outlines, we will always put the customer first in the decision-making behind the development and marketing of new products and services.
The patented system has the potential to appeal to car buyers if it leads to lower vehicle prices in exchange for advertising. While there are some privacy regulations that would need to be addressed, these hurdles could be overcome with careful planning. It’s possible that Ford is simply exploring the idea for future possibilities, without any immediate plans for implementation, but the concept opens doors for innovation down the line.
