Hyundai Motor reaches global production of 100 million cars – A milestone that was achieved in just 57 years.

Its 100 millionth and first vehicle, an IONIQ 5, rolled off the final inspection conveyor belt at Ulsan Plant’s shipping center.

The milestone car was delivered directly to a customer during a special handover ceremony at Ulsan Plant.





Hyundai Motor has announced that it has reached a cumulative global production of 100 million cars – a milestone which the South Korean automaker achieved in just 57 years since the company’s foundation.

Its 100 millionth and first vehicle, an Hyundai IONIQ 5, rolled off the final inspection conveyor belt at Ulsan Plant’s shipping center. The milestone car was delivered directly to a customer during a special handover ceremony at Ulsan Plant.

“Reaching global cumulative production of 100 million vehicles is a meaningful milestone that was possible thanks to our customers around the world who have chosen and supported Hyundai Motor since the very beginning,” said Jaehoon Chang, CEO of Hyundai Motor.

The event at Hyundai Motor’s Ulsan Plant also featured a celebratory display commemorating ‘100 million and 1’, which symbolizes its commitment to pushing one step further with its past accomplishments as the foundation.





Also commenting on the production milestone, Dong Seock Lee, President and Head of Domestic Productions and Chief Safety Officer at Hyundai Motor said :

“Each and every employee at Hyundai Motor has contributed to the accumulation of 100 million units through their hard work and dedication”.

Hyundai Motor’s Ulsan Plant, which began operations in 1968, is noted for producing Korea’s first mass-produced independent model, the Pony, in 1975.
