Stellantis Gives Car Brands A Few Years To Buckle Up Or Face The Axe
Stellantis has a huge range of car brands, but it is still questionable whether they will all remain. CEO Carlos Tavares says a decision will be made in a few years.
Stellantis is the parent company of traditionally successful brands such as Peugeot, Opel, and Fiat but also wields the sceptre over brands that play a role on the margins. Think of the reviving Lancia, the still-young DS, and, of course, the exclusive Maserati. The latter three are logically under the microscope at Stellantis because it is still questionable whether they will bring in enough money in the coming years.
Stellantis and its CEO Carlos Tavares dismissed rumors of a possible sale of Maserati earlier this year, but Tavares now claims, that a decision on the future of the brands will be made in the relatively short term. “We will assess the performance of each brand when we are about two-thirds of the way through the Dare Forward 2030 plan. So you can expect decisions in two to three years.”
So it is to be hoped for a brand like Lancia that the new models will be received enthusiastically enough, for DS the sales must undoubtedly increase and at Maserati, there is a heavy burden on the shoulders of the new (also available as EV) GranTurismo and GranCabrio. There will also be tension in the United States especially around Chrysler. However, American dealers recently also sounded the alarm because they fear for the future of Jeep, Dodge and Ram.
