“Hemi-V8 Is Back In Production This Summer, Proving That It Is Not Dead After All”

Late last year, shortly after the departure of former Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, the rumour came from America that the Hemi V8 had been killed by Tavares himself.

‘Everyone wanted to keep the Hemi,’ but not Tavares. Well, Tavares is gone, and it seems that the way is indeed clear for the famous eight-cylinder. According to  Mopar insiders, the production of various Hemis is being restarted.

The Hemi V8 was not completely gone, but it was close. The Dodge Durango still has it, mind you.  So hopefully there will be more choices again soon. According to Mopar insiders, the 5.7, the 6.2 ‘Hellcat,’ and the 6.4 ‘Apache’ versions will be put back into production. The engines will be built in the American state of Michigan from next summer. Previously, the birthplace of the Hemi was in Mexico.

It is still unclear which cars will be available with a Hemi again, in addition to the Durango. Of the currently available cars from Stellantis, the Jeeps (Grand) Wagoneer and Grand Cherokee and the Ram 1500 previously had a Hemi V8. They may get it back. The Dodge Challenger and Dodge Charger with Hemi V8 have now been succeeded by the new Dodge Charger, which is available with an electric drivetrain and a six-in-line. It is very doubtful whether a Hemi can still be spooned into that.
