Mercedes-Benz celebrated the production of its 600,000th G-Wagon, an electric G 580 with EQ Technology, earlier this month.
Production milestone comes two years after the 500,000th G-Class, a “Mercedes-Benz G‑Class Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s”.


Video shared shows over 90 units of brand new Mercedes-Benz G-Class Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) in white protective covers being transported by a freight train, likely from Magna Steyr’s assembly line in Austria, where it has been built since production started in 1979.
The iconic Mercedes G-Class, sometimes called G-Wagen (short for Geländewagen) and G-Wagon (as it is known in Nigeria), is manufactured by Magna Steyr, an automobile manufacturer based in Graz, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz.

Recall that Mercedes-Benz celebrated the production of its 600,000th G-Wagon earlier this month. The milestone vehicle, an electric G 580 with EQ Technology, is finished in obsidian black metallic.
The production milestone comes nearly two years after the 500,000th G-Class, a “Mercedes‑Benz G‑Class Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s”, was produced in April 2023 and 5 years after the 400,000th model of the boxy SUV rolled off at the Magna Steyr’s assembly line in Austria in December 2020.


The Austrian-made legendary military-based Mercedes‑Benz G-Class, which has also been sold under the Puch name as Puch G, is famous among Nigerian celebrities because of its off-road capabilities.
The G-Class, alongside the S-Class and E-Class, remains Mercedes‑Benz longest-produced passenger car model series in the brand’s history. Both convertibles with a short wheelbase and station wagons with a short or long wheelbase, have been produced since production started four decades ago.
