The 600,000th Mercedes G-Class, an all-electric ‘G 580 with EQ Technology’, rolls off the Assembly line in Graz, Austria.

G-Class, alongside the S-Class and E-Class, remains Mercedes‑Benz longest-produced passenger car model series in history.

Both convertibles with a SWB and station wagons with a SWB or LWB, have been produced since production started in 1979.

Production milestone comes two years after the 500,000th G-Class, a “Mercedes G‑Class Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s”, was produced.

The 600,000th model of the Mercedes‑Benz G-Class, an electric G 580 with EQ Technology, has rolled off the assembly line in Graz, Austria, where the legendary military-based SUV has been manufactured since production started in 1979.

The anniversary car is an electric G-Class finished in obsidian black metallic. The production milestone comes nearly two years after the 500,000th G-Class, a “Mercedes‑Benz G‑Class Edition STRONGER THAN THE 1980s”, was produced.

Electric G-Class uses a high-voltage lithium-ion battery that offers a usable capacity of 116.0 kWh. It provides sufficient energy for ranges of up to 473 kilometres (294 miles). Fast-charging functionality enables a 10-80 percent battery charge in just 32 minutes.

It is powered by four motors, which makes a total of 579 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque – allowing the electric G-Class to reach 60 mph in about 4.4 seconds and a top-speed limited to 112 mph.

Since MANUFAKTUR started for the G‑Class in 2019, Mercedes said over 90 percent of G‑Class customers choose at least one MANUFAKTUR option – noting that the degree of individualization is higher for the boxy SUV than any other vehicle with the Mercedes‑Benz Star.

The G-Class, alongside the S-Class and E-Class, remains Mercedes‑Benz longest-produced passenger car model series in the brand’s history. Both convertibles with a short wheelbase and station wagons with a short or long wheelbase, have been produced since production started four decades ago.
