The Largest U.S. Recall Of Mercedes-Benz In 2026 Began With A Single Little Component
Mercedes-Benz is recalling over 310,000 U.S. vehicles (2019–2026) due to a faulty door-lock microswitch that can cause rollaway risks. Corrosion from moisture can prevent the electronic parking brake and “Auto-Park” feature from engaging, leaving the vehicle unsecured. Dealers will replace the door locks free of charge starting September 18, 2026.
Mercedes has supplied a lengthy list of affected models, which total 72 variants in all. All of them are subcompact and compact models. Below, we’ve listed only the model years and model lines that form part of the recall:
- 2020-2021 Mercedes-Benz CLA
- 2019-2022 Mercedes-Benz A-Class
- 2022-2023 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
- 2024 Mercedes-Benz CLE-Class
- 2020-2026 Mercedes-Benz GLA and GLB
- 2023-2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class
In total, the recall involves 310,667 models from the brand.
To resolve the issue, dealers will replace the driver’s door lock at no cost to owners.
A notice will be sent via mail by Mercedes-Benz on September 18, 2026. For inquiries, call 1-800-367-6372 or check your VIN at the NHTSA website starting July 31, 2026. Avoid parking on inclines due to rollaway risks. If your radio or lights stay on after exiting, your door-lock microswitch may be faulty.
This is Mercedes-Benz’s largest U.S. recall this year, surpassing May’s 144,049-vehicle instrument cluster issue. Unlike previous software-fixable recalls, this microswitch defect requires a physical repair.
