Mercedes-Benz has reported a significant 9 percent decrease in deliveries of cars and vans in the second quarter, largely driven by the challenges posed by customs policies.

From April to June, the company delivered 547,100 vehicles. Furthermore, sales of all-electric models plummeted even more, down by 18 percent to just 41,900 vehicles, as highlighted by a report from Reuters.

In the passenger car segment, the decline was consistent, with deliveries also falling by 9 percent to 453,700 vehicles. North America experienced a 14 percent drop, while China witnessed an alarming 19 percent decline, according to the company’s report.

Mercedes-Benz asserted, “Deliveries were strategically adjusted to navigate the new global customs regimes, which have had a significant negative impact on our sales in the US and China.”

On a positive note, the domestic market in Germany demonstrated resilience, achieving a 7 percent growth in sales, while the broader European market recorded a modest 1 percent increase.
