Amid criticism, Ferrari presents electric Luce to Pope Leo XIV for blessings, gift him the car’s steering wheel as a tribute.
Ferrari describes Luce’s 3-spoke steering wheel as a pure and singular form, machined from a single piece of aluminium.
Ferrari delegation, led by Chairman John Elkann and Chief Executive Officer Benedetto Vigna, on Tuesday presented the all-new Ferrari Luce to Pope Leo XIV for his blessing at the residence in Castel Gandolfo.
In a video shared online, Ferrari’s test driver, Raffaele De Simone, was seen explaining the three-spoke steering wheel controls of the brand’s first-ever electric Ferrari to Pope Leo, who was sitting in the driver’s seat.
“It was a great emotion and an immense honour to meet His Holiness together with my Ferrari colleagues,” Chairman Elkann commented.
“This was a moment of extraordinary human and symbolic value, inspiring all the people in our Company to continue their journey with passion, responsibility, and confidence in the future. An occasion that will remain forever in our memories, and in Ferrari’s history.”

“Emblematic of driver control, the wheel is augmented with distinct and functional analogue control modules in the most ergonomic position for driving,” Ferrari said of Luce’s three-spoke steering wheel.
