Ex-Ferrari Chairman On Luce : “I Hope someone removes the Prancing Horse (logo) from that car”, “Chinese won’t copy it”.

Following the unveiling, the Ferrari Luce sparked intense backlash over its departure from traditional, aggressive supercar styling.

The brand’s battery-powered five-seater was co-developed with Apple’s former chief design chief Jony Ive’s LoveFrom collective.

Italian businessman and former chairperson of Ferrari, Luca di Montezuma, has publicly criticized the design of the recently unveiled Ferrari Luce, saying that the new model was a betrayal of Ferrari’s history.

“If I were to say what I really think, it would be unpleasant, so l prefer not to comment,” Luca, who served as the chairman and president of Ferrari between 1991 and 2014, said on the sidelines of a business conference in Rome.

“I just hope someone removes the Prancing Horse from that car. We risk destroying a legend, which saddens me greatly. At least this is a car the Chinese won’t copy.”

“I’ve seen the project has already been delayed more than two years. I don’t like commenting from the stands—when I was in the game, it annoyed me when people did that.”

“I think for now the electric Ferrari could have been avoided, but clearly Ferrari made huge investments in plants and the car itself for their own reasons. Maybe Porsche’s lesson is useful for reflection.”
