Official: BMW M2 xDrive Variant Released
BMW has expanded the range of the M2 model with a four-wheel drive version.
In short, a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and 480 hp, an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, four-wheel drive (M xDrive), as well as M alloy wheels of 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear.
M xDrive works together with the Active M differential, which independently changes the distribution of torque between the rear wheels. The two systems are adjusted together via DSC and M Dynamic mode.
According to the BMW blog, drivers can configure the behavior via the M settings menu, and there is a 2WD mode with DSC completely deactivated. Pure rear-wheel drive is still available.
The BMW M2 xDrive accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, which is 0.3 seconds faster than the rear-wheel-drive M2. Acceleration from 0 to 200 km/h takes 12.8 seconds. Top speed is the same, electronically limited to 250 km/h, or 280 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package.
New for the M2 is BMW Individual Borusan Turkish Blue, a special finish not previously available on any M2 model.
The US MSRP is $73,600 plus $1,350 for shipping and handling.
Production begins at the BMW Group plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, in August 2026. The market launch will follow at the end of summer this year. But most importantly, the rear-wheel-drive M2 is not going away. The four-wheel drive M2 is therefore an addition to the line, not a replacement.
