China’s Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Rival, Maextro S800, Spotted In Lagos

China’s Mercedes-Maybach S-Class sedan rival, Maextro S800, spotted in Lagos by a luxury car spotter. 

Marks the first time that China’s best-selling ultra-luxury sedan has been filmed cruising on a Nigerian road.

Maextro’s flagship S800 ultra-luxury sedan is priced between 708,000 and 1.02 million yuan ($101,300 to $145,600).

To own one in Nigeria, the price will range from N160M to N220M, depending on the configuration, shipping, and clearing options.

The Maextro S800, a direct rival to the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class, was recently spotted in Lagos by a luxury car spotter, marking the first time that China’s best-selling ultra-luxury sedan has been filmed cruising on a Nigerian road.

This follows the sighting of two Hongqi E-HS9s—the flagship luxury SUVs from FAW Group’s Hongqi brand—on Nigerian roads, highlighting the growing dominance of Chinese luxury car brands driven by their premium features, smart technology, and proven performance.

Maextro S800

The S800 is the first model and the flagship car of the Maextro luxury electric (EV) brand created by Chinese tech giant, Huawei Technologies Co., and Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC).

Maextro’s flagship car measures 5,480 mm in length, 2,000 mm in width, and 1,536 mm in height, with a 3,370 mm wheelbase. It is available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) versions.

Earlier this month, Autojosh reported that the Maextro brand launched the Grand Design Collector’s Edition of its S800 sedan, following the initial success of the standard version since deliveries began in August 2025.
